I started suffering in April 2021 with a pain in my right, little finger (I thought I was sleeping on it funny) but the pain quickly spread into other fingers and my left hand. In June I noticed my little finger had moved away from the rest of my fingers so I made an appointment with my GP. I’ve been extremely lucky and within two months I’d had my bloods taken and ultrasounds done to confirm Early Inflammatory Arthritis (on my 27th Birthday!) and started Sulfasalazine a few weeks after.
Like most, I have stiffness in the mornings and it can take a minute for my hands to get going. My hands are in constant but for me manageable pain. The pain worsens if I bang my hands. My grip isn’t as strong as it used to be and if I’m not concentrating I become a dropper. I can’t use a dish cloth anymore as I can’t manoeuvre the cloth and dishes however *luckily* a sponge on the stick has saved the day!
Living with arthritis is educational and a learning curve. I’m learning new things about my abilities and comforts each day. I was diagnosed on my 27th Birthday and I didn’t let it spoil the fun and I wont let it spoil any fun.
I think arthr has great mission that helps to bring people together and feel supported!!
